Emirates team, under captain Abdul-Aziz Mansour, has put the final touches of the first phase of manufacturing "Kuwait Flag" hot air balloon, which was recently launched by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Speaking to KUNA Wednesday, Mansour said the balloon is equipped with the latest-of-the-art technology, noting that famous international companies are participating in manufacturing the balloon.
He added that the team is also well-prepared for flying the balloon with its complicated technology.
"The team members have long experience in flying with such kind of giant hot air balloons," he said.
Mansour revealed that the balloon would be launched during a big ceremony to be held in Kuwait in April as a part of a broader international event to introduce Kuwait to the countries over which the balloon would fly.
"The ceremony will also see the launching of Kuwait's first international festival for hot air balloons in which teams of countries like France, United States, Britain, Italy, Poland, Russia, Latonia etc will take part." Mansour lauded HH the Amir support to the team, festival and sports in Kuwait.
He disclosed that HH the Amir has praised the balloon team's efforts to promote Kuwaiti culture and heritage worldwide during a recent reception to it.
"HH the Amir's support of the Emirates team stems from the wise Kuwaiti leadership's interest opening up to the world and strengthening friendship bonds with all nations," he said.
He underlined that this support plays an important role in the team's success in both local and international levels, particularly in the balloon festival held last year at the British city of Bristol.
Mansour pointed out that Kuwait "Thank You" hot air balloon which toured several European countries last year was meant to express gratitude for European countries' role in freeing Kuwait from occupation 20 years ago.
